Medication Policy
If your student has a prescription medication that needs to be administered while at school, please request the prescribing physician to sign a doctor’s order for the school to administer the prescribed medications. If your student needs over-the-counter medications while at school, the nursing staff will require an OTC Medication Parent Form to be completed and signed by parent in order to administer the medication in accordance with the Texas Board of Nursing licensing standards. The parent or guardian will provide the campus nurse with the medication, the physician’s order, and written parent/guardian authorization. All medications must be in the original container and labeled with your child's name. Over-the-counter Medication will be administered per manufacturer instructions unless a healthcare provider directs otherwise in writing. Medication will not be allowed to be carried by students unless proper documentation is on file with the campus nurse. Medication orders must be updated every school year, and any medication not picked up at the end of the year will be destroyed.
